Step-By-Step Apostille Instructions
An apostille is a Texas apostille service attached to a document or translation that authenticates it as legal and valid in a foreign country. The apostille certificate does not validate the translation itself, but rather it certifies the authority of the signatory and accuracy of the seal used on the document. Documents that often require apostilles include court documents, administrative documents and notarial acts, as well as personal documents such as birth certificates and death certificates, and official documents such as patent applications and marriage licenses.
Efficient Apostille Document Services You Can Trust
To obtain an apostille, the document must first be certified as a true copy of the original by the issuing agency. Then, the document must be sent to the U.S. Department of State Authentication Office for an authentication or apostille. (Cost, requirements and address are listed in this article).
Alternatively, the document can be taken to any of the walk-in apostille service locations at our New York City, Albany or Utica customer service centers to receive an authentication from the Secretary of State. If the document is from a country that has not signed the 1961 Hague Convention abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents, it may need to go through an entire legalization process at that country’s consulate.
